If you were looking for a change from the cold and dreary English or American winters, you must catch a flight to Amman, the capital of Jordan. Amman is a surprisingly modern city that is far removed from other suffocating cities of the Middle East. Amman is a blend of the ancient and the modern and looks westwards in its outlook and in its rhythm.
The city is a mixture of sandstone buildings in the downtown where ancient souks and coffee shops lay side by side modern boutiques and trendy malls. The suburbs are elegant and tree lined and give you a glimpse of what everyday life is like in one of the more tolerant Middle Eastern cities. The city is blessed with a temperate climate and hence, the climate is perfect year around.
The government organizes daily city tours which show you almost all the sights of the city. Make sure you try the local delicacies and enjoy warm Arab hospitality for this city throbs with life and zest. When you are done with exploring Urban Amman, head to the deserts and take a camel ride or better still, take a helicopter ride like the King of Jordan does!
