leaving Izzie heartbroken

When Denny died,

and after contemplating leaving medicine altogether,
she had a change of heart and stayed on the program

Cristina is the first to admit she doesn't really 'do' relationships

She has trouble sharing and letting anyone get close,
but nonetheless, she started a relationship with Dr. Burke
Soon after, Burke proposed to Cristina, who rather reluctantly accepted.
Ultimately, Burke realized Cristina wasn't ready for marriage and left her at the altar.

George is close to his family,
although he has always felt like an outsider to them
After his father died of cancer, George assumed the role of head of the family,
looking after his Mom and brothers as they dealt with the death of their father and husband. Married and later divorced Callie.

George thought he had found his perfect match in the form of Dr. Callie Torres,
but unfortunately the marriage didn't last for long,
particularly after an ill-fated affair with his best friend, Izzie Stevens.

but George redeemed himself by performing heart surgery in a lift during a power cut

Alex has been a bit of a womanizer.
After an on/off relationship with Izzie Stevens, the pair are now just friends
